Erling Haaland remains under contract at Manchester City until 2034 after signing a record nine-and-a-half-year deal in January 2025. Yet fresh speculation has exploded following an independent panel’s finding that City were guilty of the vast majority of Premier League financial rule breaches.
Potential sanctions including a heavy points deduction or even relegation, have sparked talk that the Norwegian striker could force a move sooner than expected.
Real Madrid leads the chase
The Spanish giants have long admired Haaland and see him as the perfect addition to their star-packed attack. Despite the long contract, sources suggest private understandings could open the door in 2027.
Barcelona are also circling
Many observers believe the Camp Nou would suit Haaland’s style better and recent reports claim the Catalan club is preparing a major bid should City’s situation worsen.
Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich sit high on the list
PSG have the financial power, while Bayern remain an attractive option if Harry Kane’s future changes. Haaland’s father previously named both clubs among preferred destinations.
Premier League rivals keep watching
Liverpool and Chelsea have been mentioned in the past by Haaland’s camp, while Arsenal have also been linked amid the uncertainty at the Etihad. Any deal would demand a huge fee and wages.
Haaland is currently settled and productive in Manchester. However, with City’s appeal process ongoing and the 2027 window already being discussed as a possible decision point, Europe’s elite are preparing. The world’s best striker still has plenty of time left on his deal but football rarely stands still when a player of his quality becomes available.
