Microsoft has officially unveiled the Xbox Nano Controller, its smallest gamepad ever. Announced on October 14, 2026, the compact device is designed to fit nearly every pocket and budget.
Tiny size, full controls
Measuring just over five inches long and weighing only 3.5 ounces, the Nano is lighter and shorter than most modern smartphones. Despite the reduced size, it includes all 18 standard gameplay inputs in the familiar Xbox layout.
Players get the same buttons and triggers they know, plus a new programmable Action Button that can be set for screenshots, gameplay capture, or other shortcuts.
Built for portability and smaller hands
Xbox says the Nano is ideal for younger players, people with smaller hands, or anyone who wants a portable controller for gaming on the go. It features a built-in rechargeable battery charged via USB-C – no AA batteries required.
Connectivity covers Xbox Wireless for consoles and Bluetooth for Windows PCs, iOS, Android devices and select smart TVs.
Price and availability
Priced at $50, the controller is available for pre-order now. It launches on November 4, 2026, in more than 30 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan and much of Europe, with additional markets to follow.
Holiday bundles and everyday play
Microsoft is pairing the Nano with holiday offers including bundles with select Samsung TVs and Meta Quest headsets that add two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new members.
The company highlights family-friendly games like Minecraft Dungeons II for local or online co-op as perfect matches for the new controller.
The Xbox Nano Controller brings full Xbox controls into a truly pocketable form, making it easier than ever to play at home or away.
