Apple have inadvertently confirmed the existence of the latest iPad mini following an unannounced device appearing on a French regulatory webpage, adding to reports that the company could release an updated tab by the end of October.
As per AppleInsider, the listing was found by MacRumors on Apple's French regulatory website.
It references a Smart Folio accessory for an iPad mini linked to model number A3632, which does not appear on the Cupertino-based tech giant’s official webpage for detecting existing iPad models.
The discovery has strengthened speculation that Apple is gearing up to refresh its smallest tablet before the end of 2026. Previous reports revealed that the forthcoming model could launch with an OLED display and improved water resistance.
Apple iPad Mini to be equipped with A17 Pro chip
Apple's current iPad mini, powered by the A17 Pro chip, carries the model number A2993. The recently found A3632 identifier does not match any existing iPad mini listed in Apple's official model database.
Additionally, the numbering sequence provides little clarity regarding the device's specs. Apple’s iPhone 17e, for comparison, carries the model number A3634, although the similarity does not confirm any link between the products.
The new detector was also absent from a separate leak of Apple product model numbers reported in August, making the regulatory listing a fresh development in the lead-up to the anticipated release.
However, the listing does not reveal the upcoming iPad mini's full specifications, price or release date. Apple has not officially announced the device.
The updated tablet is likely to be released at Apple’s expected October 28 event, where the company may launch other products.
It is pertinent to mention Apple has yet to officially reveal details regarding the next-generation iPad mini.
