A Duke Blue Devils footballer has been facing serious criticism following his treatment of a female trainer.

Kimari Robinson is at the centre of a controversy after he aggressively swatting away a female athletic trainer on the field during the Blue Devils' 24-20 loss to UNC.

The incident took place in the third quarter of the Blue Devil's clash against North Carolina on Saturday, October 17, when the trainer came onto the field to treat teammate Landan Callahan.

With seven minutes left in the third quarter, Dashawn Stone was injured while trying to tackle running back Jaylen McGill.

As Stone received an immediate medical attention, Kimaro went up to check in on his teammates.

However, when the trainer came on the field to help, Stone swiped his arm at the staffer, who looked to be shaken by it as she tried to attend to Stone.

The female trainer, Grace Dietrich, who rushed to the injured player, looked visibly stunned by his reaction, while another medical professional, crouched on the field, glanced up in shock.

Although a stretcher was brought onto the field, Stone ultimately managed to stand up and exit the field on his own.

The internet calls for Kimari Robinson's dismissal

The classless move has heavily been criticised on the internet, with fans calling for the 21-year-old's dismissal.

"Needs to be talked to and apologize to the trainer.. if he doesn’t wanna do that then suspend him," one user on the internet noted.

Another post read, "That dude should be gone from the team. DGAF what his excuse is. You can see how scared she was after that."

"Anyone defending with "she put hands on him first", "that's his teammate", "it's a scary situation" can f--k right off. That woman is a health care professional trying to enact an emergency protocol for player safety. That athlete should've been OFF THE FIELD and out of the way," a third post said.

Notably, Duke lost to North Carolina 24-20 to fall to 4-2.
