Country music star Luke Bryan’s 18-year-old son, Thomas “Bo” Boyer Bryan, suffered a broken collarbone during a high school football game on Friday, October 16, 2026.
What happened on the field
Bo, the starting quarterback for Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee, was sacked on the team’s opening drive against Pope John Paul II Preparatory School. He landed hard on his right shoulder. Two players also fell on him.
He later told reporters he first thought it was just a stinger. “Once I got up I knew something was wrong. When I got to the sideline, I really knew something was wrong,” Bo said. Trainers put his arm in a sling and wrapped his shoulder. He watched the rest of the game from the sidelines.
Bo confirms the injury
The next day, Bo posted on Instagram Stories: “Broke my collarbone last night. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We will be back.”
Strong season cut short
This was Bo’s first full season as the starter. Through seven games he had thrown for 2,006 yards and 30 touchdowns with only three interceptions. The Wildcats stood at 6-1. He was viewed as a top contender for Tennessee’s Division II-AA Mr. Football award.
Battle Ground Academy coach Bobby Bentley said the team would have to figure out next steps without their quarterback. It is not yet clear how long Bo will be out.
Luke Bryan and his wife Caroline have strongly supported their son’s football career this fall, often attending his games. Fans and the country music community have shared messages of support as Bo begins his recovery.
