Charlie Puth hits back at Taylor Swifts shoutout with new track

Charlie Puth responded to Taylor Swift's nod to him on her new album by dropping a new song on TikTok

Charlie Puth is ready to drop a new banger in response to Taylor Swift's nod to him and his talent in her new album The Tortured Poet's Department.

After the Lover crooner mentioned the We Don’t Talk Anymore singer in the titular song from her new album, Puth responded by dropping a new song himself on TikTok on Friday, May 3.

Puth shared a video of him singing his new song, and noted the caption over it, “These last couple weeks have been really crazy for obvious reasons, but I wanted to share something with you.”

"This is a song I wrote about my friend called Hero. Sometimes I get a little nervous being overly honest in my music which is why this was sitting on my hard drive for awhile," the See You Again singer continued.

He added, "But I think someone out there was giving me a sign that I needed to release it."

"So… I declare Hero will be out everywhere on May 24th as the first single of my new album. Thank you for your support… you know who you are,” Puth stated.

For the unversed, Swift paid tribute to the musician in her 11th studio album as she sand, "You smokеd, then ate seven bars of chocolate / We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist."

Swift's fans, called Swifties, instantly caught the nod and raced to Puth's TikTok comment section as soon as he debuted the Hero teaser.

“We declare that Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist,” one person wrote.

Another added, “You look a lot like Charlie Puth. He should be a bigger artist.”
