King Charles offered a rare glimpse into his beloved Highgrove estate as he got into the festive spirit ahead of Christmas.
The 76-year-old monarch was a personal participant in hosting his annual 'Crafts at Christmas' celebration at his Gloucestershire residence on Friday.
During the festive afternoon, King Charles made a touching admission about his commitment to preserving traditional crafts and “timeless skills.
The King said: "It's really trying to maintain the timeless skills, the battle is trying to keep all the special ones."
The King considers Highgrove to be his personal sanctuary away from royal duties and holds special significance there.
“In both good times and bad, whether as Prince of Wales or now as King, I retreat to my ‘sanctuary,’ my tiny chapel in the grounds of Highgrove, to gather my thoughts,” royal biographer Robert Hardman told HELLO!.
Since 1980, Charles has had the property as his possession, and he started living there with Princess Diana and their young sons, Prince William and Harry.
At the event, the King had the chance to meet with students and alumni from The King's Foundation, which assists about 15,000 students every year in building practical skills
