Kevin Smith’s reason for “not reaching out” to close pal Ben Affleck during latter's marital issues laid bare!
During his conversation with PEOPLE on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, he candidly explained the reason of not getting in touch with Affleck, during his split rumours with Jennifer Lopez.
As per the filmmaker his wife Jennifer Schwalbach Smith convinced him to contact his Dogma lead as he is going through a rough patch in his personal life.
“Obviously, he's been going through a thing, or at least that's what it says in the press and whatnot,” Smith told the outlet.
He continued, “I, being his least trustworthy friend who's very loose-lipped... My wife was like, ‘Oh, you should reach out to him.’”
“I was like, ‘The last person he needs to hear from right now is the guy who chats a lot,'" Smith added, "So when he's in a good place, he'll let me know.”
Kevin, who has collaborated with Affleck on several films also confirmed that he will contact Affleck whenever he gets ready to kick off the next Jay and Silent Bob movie in the rebooted franchise.
“We shoot in the fall, so I'll be reaching out to him,” Smith revealed.
“He may even come play, but I haven't been anywhere near the situation. I keep reading. You guys have been providing most of the information that I know,” he added.
Kevin Smith’s comments come after reports of Ben Affleck buying a new home in L.A emerged amid his divorce rumours with the This Is Me…Now singer.
