Johnny Depp came forward to play a vital role in supporting late pal Tamayo Perry’s legacy.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor took his Instagram stories on Sunday, July 28, 2024, to share a photo of Tamayo Perry, who was his costar in the film and his wife Emilia Perry with a heartfelt caption.
Alongside the photo, Johnny wrote, “Even though it was some years ago now, I remember Tamayo well. A lovely man, with a huge heart and zest for life...”
“Emilia, I send you all my love and strength You are in my thoughts. With love, Johnny. X” he added.
The post was capped with a GoFundMe link redirecting users to donate to an account dedicated for the late lifeguard’s legacy.
Tamayo Perry died on June 23, 2024, after attacked by a shark for the first time in his 20 year career as a lifeguard.
Perry, who also appeared in some Hollywood movies was attacked by a shark while he was surfing on Oahu's North Shore during a break in his shift.
His wife Emilia in an ABC News interview that aired on Good Morning America on June 26, she said with tears, "I feel so upset and devastated, but I also have a weird calmness in my heart knowing that he's in a better place."
"It was like I went on the best 25-year vacation of my life with him, and now it’s over," Emilia added. "Now I gotta come back to reality."
