Selena Gomez has confessed that she was “too depressed” to date Benny Blanco back in her “It girl era”.
The Who Says singer took to social media to reflect on her depressing days before her romance with the record producer Benny.
In June, a fan posted a video on TikTok showcasing Selena’s younger self, in which she could be seen donning black dress and a matching coat thrown over one shoulder styled with loose and curled hair.
Alongside the video, which was set to her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber’s song Company, the fan penned, "I know and so do you that at the time she would never have gotten engaged to Benny, she was in her IT GIRL era."
Responding to the video on Sunday, Gomez shared a sarcastic comment about her past struggles with depression.
"Kinda makes me laugh because I was so depressed back then lol," she penned.
Gomez's It Girl Era refers to her early 20s, when she was rising to fame as a Disney star and later transitioning to a successful music career.
During this time, she dated Justin Bieber on and off for eight years along with brief romance with The Weekend in 2017.
Selena Gomez is now in a happy and healthy relationship with Benny Blanco, whom she confirmed she was dating in December 2023.
