Queen Camilla walked down the memory lane to 2024 when her beloved husband, King Charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer.
On Wednesday, August 19, the official Instagram account of Royal Family released an emotional video of Queen Camilla marking the 30th anniversary of Maggie's cancer charity.
During her visit to Maggie's cancer support centre – which she opened in January 2024 at the Royal Free Hospital in London, Camilla for the first time reflected on the “difficult” period after the 77-year-old monarch’s cancer diagnosis.
The video featured a deeply moving conversation between the Queen and Maggie’s CEO, Dame Laura Lee, during which the King's wife was visibly emotional, with tears in her eyes.
In her first emotional admission Camilla explained how challenging it was for her to keep King's cancer diagnosis a "secret" at the time till it was not publicly announced.
The video of Queen Camilla was accompanied by a caption, seemingly a publicly endorsement of her cancer charity from the cancer-stricken monarch himself – who is still under treatment.
“If you, or someone you love, has received a cancer diagnosis, just come into your nearest Maggie’s center to speak with an expert and receive free practical, emotional and psychological support,” it noted.
Camilla admitted that "Nobody could say anything at the time, that was quite difficult."
"I almost said something but, you know, I felt that it wasn't the time to say," she added.
In response to Camilla's admission, Dame confirmed, "It was just a week before it became public and the courage that must have taken for you."
"I was just longing to let it out, but obviously I couldn't," replied her majesty.
For the unversed, King Charles III cancer was announced on 5 February 2024, just days after the Queen opened Maggie’s cancer center.
