Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to relocate to the UK by the end of August after six years, which has put a full stop in the Suit alum's acting plans.

It was reported that the Duchess of Sussex is eyeing a role in Guy Ritchie's Netflix series, The Gentlemen, set to be filmed in the UK.

Why is Meghan Markle's acting opportunity in shambles?

However, it has been reported by the East Bay Times that the opportunity to return to the acting has been withdrawn amid backlash surrounding Meghan's return to the UK with her family.

Tina Brown, royal author and famed former editor of Vanity Fair and the New Yorker, reported Saturday morning that the offer to the Meghan to appear in season 3 of The Gentlemen "has been withdrawn" due to the backlash over the casting.

The US outlets previously revealed that the Duchess of was in "early talks" appear in the crime drama.


Brown noted, "The backlash in the UK was so intense, it became untenable to go forward. This does not bode well for Meghan's acting comeback in the UK. More to come."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's return 

It was reported on Thursday, August 20, that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to relocate from California later this month and will be moving to a private residence outside London.


The pair had also enrolled their children in British schools for the coming terms, starting in September.

Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle return to working royal roles?

King Charles has made clear that there will be no change to the Duke and Duchess' role as private individuals and non-working members of the royal family.

The couple, who currently live in California, left the UK for North America in 2020 after stepping back from royal life and have since been part of a public falling out with the royal family.

On the other hand, British entertainment writer Rob Shuter reported on his Naughty But Nice Substack said that Meghan had only agreed to move back to the UK for six months.
