Lewis Hamilton had the best arrival while pulling up at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza for media day ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix weekend.
The 41-year-old seven-time drivers’ champion arrived in his newly acquired Ferrari F40 car, which he learned is quite special.
Lewis recently told F1 correspondent Lawrence Barretto, “The F40, for me, it’s just the coolest looking, the lines, the curves of the car. It’s got the most amazing, most elegant, badass back end of a car you’ve ever seen. [I wanted to] find a unique one – and when I say unique, it had to be well taken care of, low mileage, an authentic story.”
“I managed to find one that this guy picked up in 1991 and drove it 69km through his house and never started ever again. The passenger door had never been opened and it was just covered in dust. It’s basically brand new,” he added.
After his purchase, Lewis found out that this particular F40’s registry card actually lists that it has the 44th engine built for that model. If you don’t know, 44 is Lewis‘ driver number!
Lewis‘ team, Scuderia Ferrari HP is bringing a new engine this weekend, with him and his teammate, Charles Leclerc, hoping to bring home a couple of trophies at Ferrari’s home race.
Several other F1 drivers were spotted arriving for media day on Thursday, including Charles Leclerc, Liam Lawson, who is a big Cars fan, current championship leader Kimi Antonelli, reigning drivers’ champion Lando Norris, and more.
