Francisco Resendez, voice actor of Scooby-Doo and Attack on Titan, has passed away at the age of 85.
The heartbreaking news was announced by Cartoons On The Moon, which shared that the voice actor died on September 2, prompting condolences from colleagues, industry insiders and fans who grew up listening to his voice on the hit cartoons.
Francisco Resendez's cause of death
The cause of death has not been disclosed. His family has yet to issue an official statement.
His career spanned several decades, as Resendez became the voice of generations of Spanish-speaking audiences through his work via animation, anime, films and documentaries.
Francisco Resende's most prominent work
Among his best-known performances was the Latin American Spanish voice of Scooby-Doo in the 1980s dubs of the beloved franchise.
He also voiced Commander Dot Pixis in Attack on Titan. Resendez also worked on Ranma and Dragon Ball Z.
Morover, he also served as the narrator for the early seasons of Pokemon.
Another major loss for the voice acting industry
The heartbreaking news came days after the dubbing community mourned the loss of Peter Cullen, known for starring as Optimus Prime in Transformers franchise.
Cullen died at the age of 85 last Wednesday at his residence in Los Angeles.
In an emotional statement, his family noted, "He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, and held in the hearts of his many friends and countless fans worldwide."
The family asked fans to "honour his remarkable legacy by serving your communities and leading others with compassion, integrity and loyalty and always remember 'be strong enough to be gentle'."
Cullen voiced Optimus Prime in the 1980s animated series The Transformers, which followed the war between the Autobots and Decepticons.
