Tom Cruise shares new message after long-forgotten film earns surprise milestone

Tom Cruise is all emotional after his long-forgotten action film, Top Gun: Maverick, reached new heights.

Every year, the Oscar-winning actor works hard to bring appealing stories full of on-screen stunts and action.

His hard work might pay off after one of his long-forgotten action movies is flying high on Netflix, and fans are asking for a new sequel sooner than ever.

Now, in his first update on social media, Tom celebrated another memorable night of the special screening of his forthcoming movie, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Expressing his heartfelt gratitude, the Eyes Wide Shut actor penned an emotional note, thanking his fans and each person for making the Digger's premiere night in Mexico memorable.

"Mexico City! To share DIGGER alongside my dear friend Alejandro González Iñárritu in this extraordinary city has been a true privilege," Tom added.

He went on, "Your excitement and enthusiasm for this film were incredible to be immersed in. Thank you to all who came out!"

Before Mexico's premiere, the Prince and Princess of Wales joined Tom at the global premiere of his new movie Digger in London on September 22nd, 2026.

The star-studded event took place at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square. It doubled as the 73rd Royal Film Performance to raise money for the Film and TV Charity.

Tom Cruise's new milestone

This update came after Tom Cruise's 2022 action-adventure release earned new recognition and became the second-most-watched movie on the streaming platform in the United States of America.

The film also topped the Paramount+ charts by earning third position globally.

Top Gun: Maverick is the long-awaited sequel to 1986's Top Gun, with Cruise reprising his role as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.

Both Top Gun movies returned to theatres earlier this year to celebrate the original's 40th anniversary, but a third instalment of the movie is currently on its way.
