Spellow Community Hub & Library has been reopened after devastating riots in August 2024!
Queen Camilla has welcomed her weekend after she stepped out to visit the destroyed library on Friday, September 4th, during the surprise visit to the North West England.
Buckingham Palace has also highlighted key glimpses of the royal tour, where Her Majesty received a warm welcome by the staff and the students.

During the solo visit to the community hub, one of the library assistants, Sean, recorded a special message, stating that,
"At the end of July 2024, the library was set on fire, which caused the building to close for quite a few months."
"It just stopped the community from getting access to what we had been giving them. For the, I think it was about a year this actual building got renovated previously, as more of a community hub and it was going really, really well," he narrated.
Recalling the riots and their aftermath, Sean said, "The morning after it was Sunday morning. I think there were tons of people from this area out from the streets doing the cleanup work."
He also appreciated the team – who came to help build the area and through whom they were able to raise funds.
"Everyone sort of came together. And we have GoFundMe, which raised a lot, a lot of money. I think we want people to come in and enjoy the space that they’re in. I think when you feel comfortable, if you’re in the right mindset when you start your reading journey, that will definitely entice you to carry on," Sean added.
What happened in August 2024 that caused the Liverpool Library to be in 'ashes'?
For the unversed, the Spellow Hub Library and Community Hub on County Road in Walton, Liverpool, suffered severe ground-floor fire and arson damage after a mob of roughly 300 rioters targeted the area on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024.

Now, Queen Camilla – who has a lifelong passion for literature and actively champions literacy through her global charity has also personally donated a box of books when the library was restocked and brought even more during her visit.
Hailing his life partner's efforts, King Charles sent a special message after the 78-year-old Queen's solo tour.
Taking to the Royal Family's official Instagram account, the Palace's aides noted, "The Queen visited Spellow Community Hub & Library in Liverpool, which has reopened after the site was destroyed by rioters in August 2024."
"The Queen met library staff, locals who use the space and children who are members of the library’s Chess Club," the royal message read.
The statement continued, "Her Majesty also learnt more about the smart classrooms, flexible learning spaces, council services and parent-and-toddler groups available to the local community."
