Karan Johar has heaped praise on Mirzapur: The Movie, sharing the reviews after its theatrical release.
The filmmaker and Dharma Productions head took to Instagram Stories to share the trailer, praising the film and highlighting both returning characters and new additions.
Johar wrote, “Mirzapur is a solid, Kadak, masaledar ride! I love the series and I thoroughly enjoyed the film!!!! All the epic characters shine and make way for the new ones with aplomb! Even if you haven’t seen the series you will love the film!!!”
His comments come as Mirzapur: The Movie brings the popular streaming franchise to cinemas for the first time.

Following a strong opening day, the film has sustained its momentum, officially crossing the ₹40 crore net collection mark in India by the evening of its second day in theaters.
The film opened to a robust ₹24.75 crore on Friday.
An additional ₹14.56 crore was reported by Saturday evening, bringing the India net total to approximately ₹40.31 crore and gross collection to ₹48.08 crore.
The Mirzapur universe expands further as the film introduces new characters to the franchise.
The star-studded cast includes Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and Divyenndu.
Jitendra Kumar joined the franchise as Bablu Pandit, the character was previously played by Vikrant Massey in the first season of the series.
Ravi Kishan is also introduced as a new addition to the cast, while Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur and Shweta Tripathi return to their respective roles from the series.
Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna.
The film, which is released on September 4, is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani as co-producers.
The movie marks the franchise’s first theatrical continuation after its successful three-season run as a streaming series.
