Karan Johar's late dad, Yash Johar, would have been 97th today.

The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai filmmaker is remembering his deceased father, who was also recognised as an exceptional director of Indian cinema, on his birth anniversary.

Taking to his Instagram account on Sunday, September 6th, he shared a rare tribute to the late director, who launched his production banner, Dharma Productions, now run by his heir, Karan.

The My Name Is Khan director began honouring his father with a heartfelt snap featuring himself and his late father, in a throwback childhood photo.

Karan Johar shares deeply personal memory with his dad

Next in line is a deeply personal note, written by Karan, 54, recalling his hardcore memories with his father.

The heartwarming birthday note read, "I remember Kuch Kuch Hota Hai had been released and I decided to buy my very first designer jacket in celebration! I proudly walked into the Burberry store and bought the only jacket that fit me (those were my mega plus-size days)."

He continued sharing the incident, in which his father hilariously mocked him, saying, "Son, what is this?"

To which Karan replied, "Papa, this is Burberry."

The filmmaker then made a humorous reference to his late dad, who called his Burberry jacket "Very bad."

The tribute also revealed that the late filmmaker was insanely proud of his son, who has worked in multiple films with the biggest names of Bollywood, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and others.

Karan Johar has concluded his emotional post, as he simply penned a wish for his dad, "Happy birthday, Papa; miss you every day."
