Despite having a stellar career and a huge fan base, Aamir Khan has some major regrets when it comes to his personal life.
The 3 Idiots actor, at the Singapore International Film Festival on Thursday, October 22, received the Screen Icon Award by Hong Kong-based film director Peter Chan Ho-sun, adding another feather to his cap.
Following the event, the Taare Zameen Par star sat down for a conversation about his life and work with Singaporean comedian Rishi Budhrani, where he revealed the weakest moment in his career.
He also reflected on his “deep sense of loss” over relationship, stating, “When I was sitting in COVID, and I was thinking, I said, about 30 years have passed of my life. And it’s okay to work like a madman, completely obsessed with what you’re doing for one year, two years, five years. But if it goes on for 30 years, I mean, you’ve lost your relationships. Your kids have grown up; they’re adults now. So I felt a deep sense of loss.”
While speaking, the Indian actor broke down in tears, prompting him to take a pause before wiping off his tears and getting back to the conversation.
Khan shared that the experience made him to bring a major change into his life, as for the past four years he has been trying to take time out for his family and close friends.
“I’m so glad that this thought occurred to me when I was 56 and not when I was 86, when it would be really too late to do anything about it,” he added.
Aamir Khan was last starred in 2025’s Sitaare Zameen Par, which is a spiritual successor to his 2007 blockbuster Taare Zameen Par.
