Former France international Christophe Dugarry has hit out at Kylian Mbappe for his claims about winning the Ballon d'Or this year.
According to Sportskeeda, the Real Madrid man is expected to be on the list of 30 nominees for the award after an impressive year for club and country.
Dugarry has condemned Mbappe for publicly saying that he can win the Ballon d'Or this year.
He pointed out that a national team captain like the 27-year-old should never be asking to win an individual award publicly, calling it childish and pathetic.

Former France striker Dugarry said, "I find publicly asking for such an individual award childish and pathetic. It does not show greatness to ask for it, especially not as captain of the national team."
"This was a season in which no player truly stood out. No player won everything, neither at team nor individual level. No one produced such an outstanding performance that you could say his victory would be obvious and certain," he added.
What did Kylian Mbappe say?
Mbappe spoke at a press conference on Monday ahead of playing for Real Madrid against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Mbappe said confidently, "I made history this summer in the most prestigious competition, but there is still a long way to go for me. This year can be a good one for me to win the Ballon d'Or," because "I always consider myself the best player in the world."
The France international who won 2026 FIFA World Cup golden boot pointed out that he will be a good shout for the award this year, insinuating that his achievements and numbers for the year should put him right in contention.
