Savannah Guthrie made a rare comment about her mom, Nancy Guthrie, on the Today show, seven months into her disappearance.
During the Thursday episode, September 10, the Today co-host said, "My mother's family, my mother was Irish, [as was] her grandmother. They were from Galway."
The comment about Nancy came after an announcement was made that Savannah and her colleagues will be filming a series of live episodes in Ireland.
Savannah, along with Sheinelle Jones, Jenna Bush Hager and the rest of their morning crew, wore green to mark the special occasion.
"I love that we're all going," Savannah said. "I've never been to Ireland."
The 54-year-old spoke about her mother in the past tense, as she has previously acknowledged that Nancy may be dead after the 84-year-old's February abduction from her Arizona home.
Weeks into the search for Nancy, Savannah posted an Instagram plea to her captors, noting, "We … know that she may be lost."
Savannah added, "She may already be gone. She may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in Heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother Pierce and with our daddy, [Charles Guthrie]."
"And if this is what is to be, then we will accept it, but we need to know where she is," she continued on behalf of herself and siblings Camron Guthrie and Annie Guthrie. "We need her to come home."
About Nancy Guthrie's disappearance
Authorities believed that Nancy was abducted from her home in the early morning of February 1.
The 84-year-old entered her Tucson home just before 10 p.m. on January 31 and was never seen again.
Her family reported her missing the next day, and authorities have investigated her disappearance as a suspected kidnapping for ransom.
Over six months later, the case remains unsolved. No suspect or person of interest has been named, as the investigation remains ongoing.
Alleged ransom notes unveiled by authorities
Moreover, authorities recently released text from ransom notes in hopes of identifying the writer.
The notes were first sent to Tucson's KOLD-TV 13 shortly after she was reported missing. The first message, sent February 2, demanded a Bitcoin ransom in exchange for her safe return.
It was noted that the alleged kidnappers demanded $4 million if payment was made by February 5 or $6 million by February 9.
The second horrifying note indicated that Nancy had accidentally died at some point and was "buried in nature".
Notably, the Guthrie family is offering a $1 million reward for information leading to answers in the case, while the FBI is offering an additional $100,000 reward, and 88-CRIME is offering $102,500.
Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today show in April after two months off navigating the family emergency.
