Screen tests for the next James Bond are likely to occur in London this weekend, with actors Callum Turner and Jack Lowden reportedly among the leading contenders for the iconic 007 role.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the tests may kick off as early as Friday, October 23, as the casting process for the next Bond film moves forward.
Nearly three actors are likely to participate, although sources close to the matter suggest the number could be as high as five.
Callum Turner emerge as contender to play next James Bond
Turner, known for his recent romantic comedy One Night Only, and Lowden, who stars in the spy series Slow Horses, are reportedly in contention for the role.
Meanwhile, despite speculation surrounding Euphoria and Frankenstein star Jacob Elordi, sources told the publication that he is not participating in the screen tests.
Jack O’Connell, who appeared in Sinners, was also a contender but is reportedly not involved.
The screen tests are understood to include three components: stunts, camera presence and dialogue. However, further details about the process have not been disclosed.
Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment on specific casting developments, reiterating that the search for the next James Bond is underway and that further details would be shared soon.
The forthcoming film will be backed by Denis Villeneuve, and produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
Daniel Craig last portrayed the British secret agent in 2021’s No Time to Die, concluding a run that began with Casino Royale in 2006. The casting decision will determine who takes over the celebrated role in the franchise’s next chapter.
