Charles Spencer has finally released the deeply personal memoir recounting his sister Princess Diana’s life experiences.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, September 11, the 62-year-old announced that he has published a new memoir, titled Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, detailing his elder sister’s childhood, royal life, struggles with the press, her final days and death.
Making a heartfelt admission, he penned the caption, “Always an amazing, and exhilarating, moment for an author to hold the first physical copy of a new book - and even more so for me with ‘Swan Song’, the most personal of the ten books I’ve written over the past three decades.”
He added, “At heart, this is a brother’s simple tribute to an extraordinary sister. A month ago I read ‘Swan Song’ out, over three days, for a recording so that it could be available on audiobook. When I finished the recording, I thought: “That is exactly what I wanted and needed to say - and she would, I reckon, have approved of every word.””

Swan Song: Diana, My Sister is a memoir by Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer about his elder sister, Princess Diana.
The book, which will be translated into 12 languages, details Charles’ childhood with the former Princess of Wales, their close relationship, challenging boarding-school experiences, and their parents’ divorce.
It also offers a look into the late Princess’s life as a royal, her marriage to then-Prince Charles, her transformation into a global celebrity, struggles with the press, and the final days that led to her death on August 31, 1997.
In the memoir, Charles Spencer also attempts to clarify the misconceptions and to tell the truth about Diana from “her brother’s perspective” as he believes various untruths about her have become accepted over time.
