King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima release their first emotional message since attending a historic event in Oslo, Norway.
The House of Orange-Nassau took to their Instagram account to reveal the devastating statement on behalf of Their Majesties.
For the unversed, the statement came after a Dutch tour bus crashed and overturned in the Swiss Alps on Thursday afternoon, September 10th, 2026, resulting in five people and 40 others being injured.
However, after the incident, on Friday, September 11th, the palace added that the King and Queen expressed deep concern and disappointment over the accident.
"Our thoughts are with all those affected by the bus accident in Graubünden, Switzerland, and with their families in the Netherlands," the royal family shared.
The statement added, "Our hearts go out to the bereaved, to everyone who is now in fear about the fate of loved ones and to the wounded. We feel connected to you in this great tragedy," King William Alexander and Queen Máxima."
What happened with the tourist bus?
Notably, the tourist coach hit a safety barrier in a roadworks area, left the road, and flipped onto its side. No other vehicles were involved.
At the time, the bus was carrying 48 passengers and a driver, organised by the Dutch travel company Oad, and was on a day trip to Switzerland from Austria.
Emergency responders deployed 13 ambulance crews and seven rescue helicopters from Switzerland and Austria to transport the injured to regional hospitals.

This update came after King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands joined several global royal families, who attended the historic funeral service in Oslo, Norway.
On Wednesday, September 9th, the Dutch Royal Family, including Princess Beatrix and the Princess of Orange (Princess Amalia), paid heartfelt tribute to the late monarch, who died at the age of 89.
The service brought together numerous international royals and dignitaries, including Britain's Prince William, Spain's King Felipe and Queen Letizia and King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan, to honour the late Norwegian monarch.
