Mahira Khan has not one but two surprises for her nation.

The Pakistani actress – who has represented her country on international levels has shared a personal life update, which melted her fans' hearts. 

On Sunday, September 13th, Mahira revealed that she is going to be a mother for the second time, 17 years after she embraced motherhood by welcoming her son, Azlan, with her first husband, Ali Askari.

The beloved South Asian actress turned to her Instagram account to share an adorable photo of herself, flaunting her baby bump.

"We make plans, and then there is Allah's plan," Mahira captioned.

As her surprise pregnancy update gained traction, fans and celebrity friends flocked to the comments with excitement and best wishes.

Fans' reaction over Mahira's happy news 

Saboor Aly congratulated the actress, saying, "And his plans are always the ones we end up loving the most. Congratulations." 

"MashaAllah, Congratulations," another said.

A big Pakistani actress, Sarwat Gilani, also wished the actress, "The best plans are unplanned by us and planned by the Divine; many congratulations to you both and the families. MashaAllah Mubarak, sweetheart."

For the unversed, Mahira Khan has announced her second and first pregnancy with her husband, Salim Karim, whom she married in October 2023. 

Mahira Khan's debut appearance at 2026 TIFF 

She will embrace motherhood for the second time, amid her powerful debut at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. 

Mahira Khan attended the prestigious event as she was invited for the global premiere of Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, directed by Bassam Tariq.

Speaking about her debut appearance, she said, "TIFF is, and always has been, one of those festivals I’ve looked to for films to watch out for. So, of course, being invited is exciting. But at this point in my career, what excites me even more is being invited to speak about Pakistan as an important South Asian voice, one that has its own stories, its own identity and its own cinema."

"To be able to be part of that conversation on a platform like TIFF feels very special to me," Mahira told Images.

Apart from attending the premiere of the film, Mahira and Bassam Tariq are also set to receive the Muslim Excellence in Cinema and Art award at the Muslim International Film Festival Toronto for their contributions in the entertainment industry.
