Amidst the family tensions with his six children and his former wife, Angelina Jolie, the Fight Club star received fresh heartbreak.
On Monday, September 14th, his other son, Maddox, has officially dropped his surname "Pitt" from his name, after two of his estranged kids also removed their father's name.
The verdict has been announced by a judge in Los Angeles County Superior Court, after the jury accepted Maddox's earlier request to change his name.
He will now go forward as Maddox Chivan Jolie from Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt.

The eldest adopted son of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made headlines in February of this year, when he introduced himself without his father's name during the premiere of his mother's iconic and most recent film, Couture.
At the time, he served as an assistant director on the drama, which starred Angelina as an American film director diagnosed with breast cancer just as she arrived in France to make a video for Paris Fashion Week.
Apart from Maddox, in August, Angelina and Brad's biological daughter, Shiloh, who is also known as Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, legally changed her name and filed a plea for the official process.

Another adopted daughter of the former couple, Zahara, dropped her father’s last name when she walked across the stage at her graduation from the college on May 17th, 2026.
However, the decision of their children came as a shock to Brad Pitt, when a source previously revealed to People said, "This is the result of a prolonged campaign of alienation of children against their parent."
"It’s an incredibly sad reality, but it’s not surprising after years of one parent weaponising the children against the other one with no regard for the consequence," the tipster close to the F1 star added.
For the unversed, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - who have settled their divroce in December 2024, share six children three adopted and three biological.
Maddox Chivan, Pax Thien, Zahara Marley, Shiloh Nouvel, Knox Leon, and Vivienne Marcheline.

Despite having the challenging dynamics with his six children, Brad Pitt decided to overcome his emotions by watching the championship in the 2026 US Open alongside his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon.
