RAYE expresses gratitude for praising her talent and creativity

Accepting the award, RAYE remained thankful, admitting she was overwhelmed by the moment.

“I've always banged on about how much I believe in albums,” the WHERE IS MY HUSBAND artist stated, underscoring the significance of recognising complete records instead of staying solely focused on individual singles.

Moreover, the singer described music as “medicine”, explaining that hope was a message everyone needed.

Previously, RAYE parted ways with her record label after accusing it of preventing her from releasing her debut album. She subsequently released My 21st Century Blues independently in 2023.

Her debut album also received immense praise, six BRIT Awards in 2024, setting a record for the most wins by an artist in a single year.

This marks RAYE's second Mercury Prize nomination, after the recognition of her debut record.

RAYE now joins previous winners, including Sam Fender, Little Simz, Arlo Parks and Arctic Monkeys.
