Legendary American actor Michael J. Fox was finally honoured with the prestigious honour at the 2026 Emmy Awards ceremony.
The 65-year-old Teen Wolf star when appeared onstage on wheelchair several celebrities seen visibly emotional on Monday, September 14th.
Attending the glitzy gala, the Back To The Future actors, including his Shrinking co-star Harrison Ford and Nicole Kidman, were moved to tears by his emotional speech.
After receiving the honour, he discussed his diagnosis of a brain disorder at the age of 29 in 1991 – and the heartbreaking reason why he kept his health battle a secret from Hollywood.
"Thank you to everyone involved with the Television Academy for this amazing, humbling honour. First, a few words about Bob Hope. My parents were born during the Great Depression," Fox added.
The actor further shared, "To them, Bob was more than an entertainer. He was a selfless champion of soldiers and military families like mine for decades. Christmases, Thanksgivings, other holidays he could have been celebrating with his family."
Why Michael J. Fox kept his diagnosis secret?
In his historic speech, Fox additionally noted that he kept his illness and Parkinson’s diagnosis a secret, due to his fears of losing his fandom and his followership.
"Initially I kept my Parkinson's diagnosis a secret. I worried it would affect my work and relationships with audiences," The Frighteners actor noted.
He also thanked his fans for showering him with support during the tough phase of his life: "I was stunned by the support from all of you, so uplifted and I hadn't lost what I do."
Fox concluded his iconic speech with a heartfelt nod to his wife, Tracy Pollan, and their four children, "for their sacrifices, for their patience, and for their love. You have no idea. And, of course, my mom and dad and my sisters and brother."
