King Charles had called a special meeting at a rarely visited site for his latest engagement.
Buckingham Palace took to the British Royal Family’s official Instagram handle on Friday, September 18, to share the latest update about the monarch, reporting that he visited Scotland’s historical landmark Dumfries House for an important duty.
Dumfries House is an 18th-century Palladian stately home and 2,000-acre estate located near Cumnock in Ayrshire, Scotland, serving as the headquarters of The King’s Foundation.
At the historical site, King Charles presented Scottish composer and conductor Sir James MacMillan with two prestigious honours.
“This morning at Dumfries House, Sir James MacMillan was received by The King when His Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle. His Majesty also presented Sir James with The King’s Medal for Music,” shared the Palace.
Alongside the delightful update, the Royals also posted a two-slide gallery, showing glimpses from the monarch and James MacMillan’s new meeting.
King Charles’ ongoing personal crisis over Princess Diana memoir
The King’s latest engagement comes amid his ongoing personal crisis, as his late former wife, Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, has begun a war with him.
Diana’s younger brother is set to release an explosive memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, based on the late Princess of Wales, in which he aims to expose the “untruths” about her.
In the bombshell book’s first excerpts, the 9th Earl Spencer has claimed that at the time of Princess Diana’s funeral, the King said, “Rest assured. We’ll forget her soon enough!”
He has also alleged that King Charles was “giddily elated” when he first heard about his beloved sister’s death in 1997.
