Maye Musk, mother of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, has reflected on the time of raising her son and his journey to becoming the world’s first trillionaire.
Speaking to CBS News, Maye called Elon a “genius child” who, in her view, wants to make a positive impact; however, he can “stand on a lot of toes” while pursuing his goals.
She further stated she believes her son has received unfair backlash from the public.
Maye stated she needed people to comprehend that Elon does what he believes is best for his country as well as the world, saying, "He does whatever is best for America and what's best for the world, And then, if we don't listen, then let's go to Mars."
Recalling difficult years
Maye also discussed her own experiences in her new memoir, Timeless, in which she highlighted the challenges of raising three young children while remaining in an abusive marriage.
Following her departure from South Africa, she moved with her children to Canada, where she established her successful career as dietitian while continuing her education.
She recalled living with her children in a one-bedroom apartment and sometimes sleeping on couches and floors while managing parenting, work and her studies.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Maye said her children did not complain about their situation.
Life and career after 70
Maye later became a model, receiving immense praise and gaining widespread popularity in the field in her 70s. She appeared on magazine covers and runways and became the oldest woman to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 2022.
