The White House has launched “Trump TV: The Essentials Station,” a 24/7 streaming platform featuring President Donald Trump’s speeches, administration announcements, public appearances and other official video content.
According to HuffPost, White House on Monday launched Trump TV, a move that came just days after Trump banned three major media outlets from the White House.
Kaelan Dorr, a deputy assistant to the president, tweeted that the broadcast would be "a 24/7 livestream of the Administration's greatest hits, unfiltered" to be shown on YouTube and within the White House app.
But critics are already dismissing Trump TV as an endless feed of straight-up government propaganda.
The White House celebrated the launch with a video featuring clips of shows such as "The Office," "Seinfeld," "Friends" and "SpongeBob SquarePants," all set to a remix of The Buggles' 1979 hit, "Video Killed the Radio Star."
The president and the White House often use songs and videos without permission.
The feed itself is, as promised, nothing but Trump. On Monday evening, for example, it replayed Trump's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year. Fewer than 2,000 people were tuned in, according to YouTube's metrics.
This came after major US television news outlets agreed to suspend their video coverage of Donald Trump after the administration banned journalists from several outlets from entering the White House grounds.
The collective decision came after the barred outlets, CNN, MS Now and Politico, sued the administration on Monday, saying the president’s actions were a violation of their first amendment rights.
