Ed Sheeran has earned a new title even after clarifying his stance about the ongoing controversy with Macklemore.
The Shape of You crooner was branded as a "greedy capitalist" despite her recent clarification about removing the Thrift Shop singer from his Loop World Tour.
Now, the popular Welsh singer, Charlotte Church, launched an extraordinary onstage rant against Sheeran, mocking him for his insensitive remarks and stance towards the topic, which needed to be heard and highlighted.
The Prayer singer – who has recently called herself an advocate for the Palestinian people and publicly opposed the UK ban on Palestine Action- urged the crowd to chant along with her "Free Palestine."
During End Times Pop Dungeon show in Cardiff on Sunday, she said, "Whilst he has made millions and has an enormous following, he has an enormous platform to do real good in the world. He chose consumerism and capitalism over doing the right thing."
She went on, "So we say the same thing to Ed Sheeran because f*** the fact [he says] that musicians shouldn't be involved in politics. F*** that s***. Politics is life."
Charlotte then added, "Ed Sheeran, we’re watching you,’ repeating the phrase with her band at least four times before leading the audience in chants of Free Palestine."
Ed Sheeran and Macklemore controversy
This update came after Ed Sheeran recently broke down in tears on stage during his Philadelphia Concert after feeling abandoned by friends and family amid intense backlash surrounding the Macklemore Tour Fallout.
Rapper Macklemore was dropped from his Loop Tour by promoters after making pro-Palestinian remarks on stage.
In solidarity with Macklemore, all remaining opening acts (including Finneas and Lukas Graham) and the Perfect singer's backing band quit the tour.
During his concert at Lincoln Financial Field, an emotional Sheeran told the crowd that people close to him backed away, family members criticised him publicly, and many urged him to cancel the tour entirely.
However, despite his clarification, Ed Sheeran continued to receive online heat.
