Anne Hathaway’s early 2000s fashion era has her questioning her style choices.
Amid the ongoing press tour and promotional events to promote their upcoming psychological thriller movie Verity, Hathaway and Dakota Johnson sat down for an interview with Betches, and the conversation took a hilarious turn when they flashed back to an iconic fashion era.
What was Anne Hathaway wearing?
During the interview, the actresses were shown Hathaway’s 2004 look, when she attended the premiere of her jukebox musical fantasy comedy movie, Ella Enchanted, at the Clearview Beekman Theater.
For the event, the Princess Diaries star wore a vibrant pink, knee-length dress featuring delicate floral details and a low-cut neckline.
In a classic early-2000s trend, she layered the dress directly over wide-leg blue jeans and topped the outfit with an open, long-sleeved coat featuring subtle pattern.
Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson’s reaction to the outfit
Right after taking a look at the throwback image, Anne Hathaway could not hold herself back from laughing as she mocked her fashion sense.
“Dakota what do you think of my outfit?” she asked while trying to control her laughter.
In response, the Madame Web actress quipped, “I know that there is something similar that that I’ve done, and so I have nothing bad to say. Only like, at the time, this was rad.”
“Thank you,” answered Hathaway, before explaining, “I was working with a stylist at the time and clearly she let me guide this session.”
“I stand by it,” replied Johnson, prompting The Odyssey actress to say, “I stand in it.”
