Ed Sheeran is moving forward with his Loop Tour with a fresh lineup of opening acts after the original artists dropped out.
The Shape of You hitmaker lost his entire opening lineup after Macklemore was dropped over his pro-Palestine comments onstage at two New Jersey concerts, prompting the other acts to pull out.
Here’s what to know about his new opening acts
Last weekend, Sheeran brought former The Fray frontman Isaac Slade on board as an opening act for his Atlanta show after performing in Philadelphia without any supporting artists.
On Thursday, Slade confirmed via Instagram that he will join Sheeran for the remaining US shows, including Indianapolis on October 10, Charlotte on October 17, Arlington on October 24 and Tampa on November 7.
“See you out there,” he wrote in the caption.
Brooks Rosser, who competed on American Idol, will round out the opening lineup for Sheeran’s Indianapolis concert.
“my first show since American Idol, and it’s at Lucas Oil Stadium opening for @teddysphotos. I’m beyond excited and grateful. See you Saturday!” he wrote on Instagram.
Sheeran will also be performing in Hollywood, Florida on October 29 and October 30, without any openers, as they are casino shows.
Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour controversy
Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour faced a major shake-up after Finneas, Lukas Graham and Beoga withdrew following Macklemore’s removal from the opening lineup.
The rapper sparked controversy with a pro-Palestine speech and performance of “Hind’s Hall” at two tour shows last month.
Sheeran later apologized amid the backlash during a Philadelphia concert on September 19.
Sheeran will be continuing to take his Loop Tour across the United States before wrapping in Tampa, Florida in early November.
He will then be kicking off a short leg across Latin America before concluding his world tour in Mexico City on December 11.
