Travis Barker has shared his latest health update.

Taking to his official Instagram Stories on Wednesday, October 7, the 50-year-old American musician and songwriter revealed a shocking update about his health, sharing the he underwent a serious surgery.

What happened to Travis Barker?

In the update, Barker shared that he had been feeling numbness in his arm, hand, and fingers since performing a show last month, which forced him to receive a cubital tunnel release procedure.

“I had surgery yesterday. My arm, hand and fingers have been numb since a show I played last month. I did a nerve test Monday after my show and turns out I needed a cubital tunnel release to fix the nerve,” he penned in the Story.

The Blink-182 drummer continued, “I wanted to get ahead of it and get it over with so that I can keep playing the way I play for a long long time. Should be good in a few weeks.”

He also posted a snap from his hospital bed, showing his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, capturing the selfie while smiling in bed next to the drummer, who was wearing a hospital gown, surgical cap, and a white ID band.

“Not sure why my wife looks so happy about this,” joked Barker in the caption.

The musician’s surgery comes three years after he injured his ring finger in a drumming accident.

“I was playing the drums at rehearsals yesterday and I smashed my finger so hard I dislocated it and tore the ligaments,” he shared back in 2023 on X.

After a few days, the All The Small Things artist revealed that he had successfully undergone surgery to repair the ligament.

Cubital tunnel release is a surgical procedure used to treat cubital tunnel syndrome (also known as ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow), according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

The organization shares, “Patients with cubital tunnel syndrome have a pinched nerve at their elbow (ulnar nerve) and typically complain of numbness in the small finger and sometimes the ring finger. In severe cases, patients also have weakness in the muscles of the hand resulting in poor hand function.”

Symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome include numbness and tingling sensation in ring and little finger, elbow pain, weak grip, difficulty with tasks like typing, buttoning a shirt, or playing an instrument.

Cubital tunnel syndrome causes

The issue is caused by the compression, irritation, or stretching of the ulnar nerve, which can occur due to prolonged or repeated elbow bending, direct pressure on the elbow, nerve snapping, arthritis, or previous injuries.
