Nana Patekar’s reported autopsy findings have drawn attention to a serious heart condition after a blood clot in the left main coronary artery was identified.
A postmortem examination has confirmed that veteran actor suffered a fatal heart attack caused by a blood clot obstructing the left main coronary artery.
A senior doctor at Goa Medical College and Hospital shared the findings after the examination was carried out following his death on October 8.
Autopsy confirms cause of death
According to PTI, Nana Patekar’s postmortem examination revealed that he suffered an acute heart attack after a blood clot obstructed the left main coronary artery, which supplies blood to a large portion of the heart.
The autopsy report recorded the cause of death as, “acute myocardial infarction due to left main coronary artery thrombosis secondary to atherosclerotic occlusive coronary artery disease, a natural cause of death”.
As per the findings, Nana’s death was attributed to natural causes.
Doctors had initially suspected a heart attack upon his arrival at the hospital, with the subsequent postmortem examination identifying the precise medical cause.
Nana reportedly fell ill at his Dona Paula home, prompting his caretaker to call a private hospital for an ambulance.
Medical personnel attempted to revive the actor with CPR for around 45 minutes but were unsuccessful.
He was declared dead at 5:10 a.m. on October 8, and his remains were later taken to Goa Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem examination.
