More than two decades after their breakup, Britney Spears has dropped a new single in collaboration with her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
On Monday, October 12, Variety reported that to celebrate the milestone 25th anniversary of her self-titled third studio album, Britney, the 44-year-old Princess of Pop dropped an unreleased song she co-wrote with Timberlake back in 2001.
The song titled She’ll Never Be Me, which has been released from Spears’ vault, was co-written by the Toxic singer, her then-boyfriend Timberlake, and songwriters & producers Bradley Daymond and Alex Greggs, who are longtime ‘NSYNC collaborators working under the name Riprock ‘n’ Alex G.
Already debuted on Friday, October 9, She’ll Never Be Me is part of the album’s 25th anniversary edition, set to release on November 6, 2026, exactly 25 years since its 2001 debut.
“You know I’m one of a kind,” Spears sings on the self-assured anthem, which sees her calling out an ex for moving on with her doppelgänger.
She continues, “There’ll never be another me / Can’t get you out of my mind / You’re lost in your own fantasy / And when you look in my eyes / Is it hard for you to realize / She’ll never be me?”
Notably, She’ll Never Be Me is Britney Spears’ first song in three years, and is the first of five tracks that the singer is releasing for the first time on the deluxe reissue of her album Britney.
