Britain's mystery richest man, who's worth £14billion, lives a life largely under the radar as his own staff don't even know who he is.

As per Mirror, Michael Platt, aged 56, holds the title of the wealthiest individual in the UK, surpassing notable billionaires like Sir Jim Ratcliffe and James Dyson.

Despite his immense wealth, he remains elusive, as he stays out of the spotlight.

The hedge fund manager, known for avoiding the limelight to the extent that even his receptionist is unaware of him, humorously claimed to a taxi driver that he's the top earner in the finance world.

However, his anonymity was lifted recently when he was listed among the top 200 richest people in the world by Forbes, alongside Ratcliffe and Dyson, with a staggering fortune of £14.3 billion.

Back in 2000, Michael and businessman William Reeves joined forces to establish the investment firm BlueCrest Capital Management.

BlueCrest operates uniquely as a personal investment vehicle for its employees and senior partners, rather than catering to external clients, and has amassed significant wealth for Michael.

Not one to seek out attention, Michael shuns paparazzi and avoids photoshoots, as evidenced by his refusal to be photographed during a 2006 interview with The Times.

Financial editor Patrick Hosking noted their fierce protection of privacy and disdain for their regular appearances in newspaper rich lists.

Michael maintains residences in London, Switzerland, and the US, and travels between them using his Bombardier Challenger private jet.

Additionally, he has a penchant for art collection. He shares two children with his ex-wife, Helen Sanderson, whom he wed in 1995, and his eldest son Marcus has recently joined BlueCrest, following in his father's footsteps.
