Former President Barack Obama is expected to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, the likely Democratic nominee.

As per multiple outlets, Obama and Harris have been in regular contact, with Obama offering advice as he has for the past 20 years.

Obama delayed his endorsement following President Joe Biden's announcement on Sunday that he would not seek reelection.

He wanted to ensure a fair process for selecting the Democratic nominee but believes Harris has made a strong start.

NBC News first reported the news of Obama’s upcoming endorsement. An adviser explained that Obama's initial focus was on supporting Biden’s announcement.

In the past, Obama actively supported Biden's reelection campaign by attending fundraisers and encouraging donations.

The Democratic Party is quickly moving forward to nominate Harris, with rules adopted on Wednesday for the nomination process.

Additionally, official voting to nominate Harris will start on August 1, with the Democratic convention set for August 19-22 in Chicago.
