Veteran TV actress Ismat Zaidi spoke her heart out on one of the most painful and struggling phases of her life, when she got divorced after 23 years of marriage.

The actress, who has delivered notable performances in hit drama serials including, Ishq Zahe Naseeb, Kankar, Meharposh and Deewangi, opened up about the heart-wrenching experience when her husband left her for a younger woman.

Speaking to a local magazine, Zaidi shared that, “After my divorce, I’ve been actually strong as a result of my in-laws have been actually supportive and so they even let me stay at their home after my divorce and refused to send me away from the home when my ex-husband asked me to go.”

While the Mann Mayal actress struggled a lot after her divorce, she said that women shouldn’t cry over divorce. “I don’t understand why women cry after divorce for a person who is leaving them,” said Zaidi. “Crying is for when your husband passes away and you are in shock. I always wished that my house would not break or my husband should not divorce me. And even if he has no relations with me, his relationship with the children should not be bad so that it does not affect them.”

Zaidi, who is a mother of two children, a son and a daughter shared that her husband forcibly divorced her on the demand of his second wife. “I told him to do whatever you want but do not break our family as our children are growing but the other lady made sure to end our family.”
