A Christmas Story has lost one of the key roles of the film, marking the end of an era!
Tedde Moore – who played Miss Shields in the super-hit fantasy-comedy movie has breathed her last on Wednesday, August 5th.
Her tragic death was confirmed by her family via a heartbreaking statement on Facebook, paying tribute to the legendary actress.
According to the family's statement, Moore died in Huntsville, Muskoka, after her brief battle with multiple sclerosis.
She was surrounded by her family members when she passed away last week.
"Her bravery in this choice was almost overwhelming, beyond beautiful and also difficult," said her grieving family members.
"Forever the teacher, she had a quote for every occasion and a special way of touching the lives and hearts of everyone she met," they added.
Moore’s devastated family remembered her legacy as they lamented, stating, "Her magic and love will be remembered by all she took under her generous and welcoming wings."
Tedde Moore's career highlights
The late actress was best known for her role in a 1983 film, A Christmas Story, in which she played Miss Shields.
She later reprised her role in the 1994 film My Summer Story and is the only actor to have appeared in both films.
Speaking about her iconic character, Tedde Moore said, "I just wanted to tell you how much it has meant to me to be part of the Christmas Story family."
"None of us would be here today if it weren’t for the gigantic heart of Bob Clark and who had the very good sense to recognise the cinematic quality of the extraordinary heartfelt writing of Jean Shepherd," she said in her previous interview.
Tedde Moore's personal life
Tedde Moore is survived by her four kids, Suzanna, Noah, Zoe and Chaunce Drury.
She was also married to the late Canadian director Donald Shebib, who was known for the 1970 drama movie Goin' Down the Road.
Tedde Moore and her former partner share two daughters, Suzanna and Noah, while she was also a mother to her daughter Zoe, whom she welcomed with her boyfriend, Patrick Christopher Carter.
She later adopted a foster daughter, Chaunce Drury.
