King Frederik X has returned from the 2026 summer retreat with his wife, Queen Mary.
Shortly after the royal break, His Majesty has resumed his duties with a high-stakes engagement on Monday, August 17th.
Taking to the Instagram account of the Danish monarch’s office, the representatives released the first official statement on behalf of the King.
In the new message, it has been mentioned that Fredrik, 58, has hosted the first public audience at Christiansborg Castle.
During the prestigious event, nearly 78 citizens attended the engagement, expressing gratitude for personally meeting with His Majesty himself.
"The first public audience after the summer holidays took place on Monday morning at Christiansborg Castle, where His Majesty the King received 78 citizens in the castle's audience," the Palace stated.
They continued explaining about the event, writing, "Before the audiences began, the King received a list of today's audience seekers. Approximately every other Monday of the year, the King meets citizens with relevant errands in the audience."
"On these occasions, one can personally express gratitude to His Majesty, for example, in connection with being awarded a royal order, medal or royal appointment," King concluded.
The royal family also shared the exclusive images from the event, attended by prominent names from civil society who received their honours.
King Frederik X and Queen Mary's royal summer retreat
Likewise, every year, King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark spent their official summer retreat at Gråsten Palace (Gråsten Castle), located in Southern Jutland, Denmark.
They arrived at the historic palace on July 6, 2026, accompanied by three of their children: Crown Prince Christian, Princess Josephine, and Prince Vincent.
Gråsten Palace has served as the traditional summer residence for the Danish Royal Family since 1935.
In addition to their stay at the royal residence, the royal couple also established their early summer residence at Fredensborg Palace beginning in May.
