Royal Family has issued a major update about an important upcoming occasion.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, September 21, the Danish Royal Family announced that King Frederik X’s first official painting since ascending the throne of Denmark is set to be unveiled by the end of this week.
In the post, Amalienborg Palace dropped a video, showing the monarch at the Great Hall at Frederiksborg Castke, where the new royal portrait will be hung.
It was also shared that Frederik’s official painting has been created by Cathrine Raben Davidsen.
“On Friday, the first official portrait painting of His Majesty the King after the change of the throne will be revealed,” read the announcement.
The statement continued, “The king recently visited the Knights Hall at Frederiksborg Castle, where the portrait, made by visual artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen, will be hung. In this regard, the King himself - together with the portrait collection's editor, Tore Leifer - saw a number of the monumental portraits in Riddersalen. From Christian 9. to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe.”
“It turned into a conversation about art, history and a number of predecessors on the shoulders of the King,” the Royals concluded.
The new artwork, which is set to be unveiled this Friday, September 25, will be placed in the Hall of Honour at Frederiksborg, marking the Carlsbery Foundation’s milestone 150th anniversary.
For those unfamiliar, the Hall of Honour is a grand ceremonial room at Frederiksborg Castle, which displays portraits and other artworks connected to Denmark’s monarchy.
It also features portraits of earlier Danish monarchs from the Glücksborg royal family, serving as a historic gallery celebrating Denmark’s royal heritage.
