Ariana Grande has gotten court’s green light to expose the hackers behind her leaked music.
On Wednesday, August 19, Variety shared a bombshell article, reporting that the Eternal Sunshine hitmaker has received court approval to request information that could help identify the people accused of leaking her unreleased songs, recording-session footage and music videos.
A Los Angeles judge granted the songstress’s proposed order for expedited discovery on Tuesday, explaining that because she is unable to identify the hackers, a waiting period should be waived.
“Given that there is no one to whom notice can be given anyway, it makes little sense to wait the 16 days. And on the merits of the motion, good cause is shown,” wrote Judge Mark H. Epstein.
During the hearing, The Boy is Mine singer’s legal team asked the judge to let them fast-track the information about the unidentified hackers.
They argued that without this information, Grande’s unreleased content is at more risk to be stolen, leaked or sold, and important details needed to identify them could disappear.
The lawyers requested for third-party involvement in order to obtain the required information about the alleged hackers, noting that they have “identified certain Internet platforms and third-party entities whose services were used to perpetrate the illegal dissemination and transactions, and which are believed to have information and data that will allow Plaintiff to identify and unmask these unknown Defendants.”
The court granted that request, noting that “it makes little sense to wait” given that Grande doesn’t have any specific defendants to serve.
“And on the merits of the motion, good cause is shown. The 20 day waiting period will never run because plaintiff cannot — even with reasonable diligence — discovery the defendant’s identity without this discovery, and therefore will never be able to serve defendants,” penned the judge in the order.

On July 28, 2026, the BBC reported that the Wicked actress took a legal action against the two unidentified hackers, who leaked her unreleased music and studio clips after gaining access to her collaborator’s computers.
She claimed that the breach happened to access the data that was later sold on the dark web for “significant sums of money.”
"In 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs belonging to Ms Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked. Since her music debut in 2011, hundreds of similar leaks have taken place,” the document stated.
Her lawyers said she was initiating legal action to uncover the identity of the hackers.
