Robert De Niro has broken his silence over his upcoming role in the new film, The Whisper Man.
On Monday, August 24th, the 83-year-old American actor and producer attended the special screening of the forthcoming film, where he shared that he has known a thing or two about playing a detective.
Speaking about his role and the character, he added that playing a detective is an element of their character, which is a little more sceptical of people because they know that people can not tell the truth.
De Niro also reveals his thoughts on the state of the film business: "It’s changing and there are some things you have no control over, some you do. We see that situation now with Paramount and Warner Bros."
He continued, "I personally don’t think it's a good idea for them to merge," before noting that he also shares how he is keeping active after his 83rd birthday, and discusses the 50th anniversary of Taxi Driver.
Clean swipe at Donald Trump
During his appearance at the premiere with Adam Scott, De Niro additionally slammed Donald Trump, calling him "a cult."
The two-time Academy Award winner made the comments during an interview with USA Today, conducted ahead of the release of his new Netflix thriller, The Whisper Man.
De Niro, who has been one of Trump's most outspoken critics in Hollywood, discussed politics alongside his new film.
What The Whisper Man is about?
The plot of The Whisper Man focuses on the life of an 8-year-old son who is abducted; a widowed crime writer looks to his estranged father, a retired police detective, for help.
He soon discovers a connection to the decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known as the Whisper Man.
The Whisper Man is slated to be released on August 28th on Netflix.
Notably, the cast includes Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott, Michael Keaton, Owen Teague, Hamish Linklater, John Carroll Lynch, Acston Luca Porto and others.
