Marshall Manning, the 15-year-old freshman son of NFL legend Peyton Manning, officially made his high school varsity football debut on ESPN2.
Playing for Chattanooga’s Baylor School, Marshall entered the game in the second quarter against Brentwood Academy.
A familiar throwing motion
Wearing his father’s iconic No. 16 jersey, the young quarterback rolled to his right and completed a quick six-yard pass on his very first attempt.
Fans quickly noted that his pocket mechanics mirrored his father’s classic style with commentators observing, “the throwing motion looks a lot like what we saw from Peyton for decades.”
Patience in the pipeline
Marshall is currently serving as the team’s backup signal-caller. Head coach Erik Kimrey expressed high hopes for the young passer, publicly stating, “Marshall Manning is our backup quarterback this year, so, we’re excited about him.”
He sits behind starter Keegan Croucher, a standout four-star recruit who has already committed to Ole Miss.
Star teammate powers victory
While Marshall’s brief appearance drew national spotlight, running back David Gabriel Georges carried the load on the field. Georges rushed for three fourth-quarter touchdowns racking up 250 yards from scrimmage to lead Baylor to a 38-20 victory.
Game cut short by weather
The nationally televised matchup ended slightly early when severe lightning forced officials to call the game with just over a minute remaining in the fourth quarter.
Despite the sudden ending, the night marked another major milestone for football’s most famous quarterback family.
