Brad Paisley delivered an emotional tribute to Dolly Parton, performing their beloved When I Get Where I’m Going duet in honor of the late country music legend.
The Remind Me singer took the stage in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on Thursday and performed When I Get Where I’m Going, his 2005 collaboration with the late Dolly Parton, without her by his side.
The performance marked Brad’s first show following Dolly’s passing and took place roughly 12 songs into the concert.
Brad’s band briefly left the stage as he began the familiar song introduction alone on acoustic guitar, prompting the audience to quickly recognize the track and join in.
As he performed, screens showed photos of Dolly spanning her decades-long career, ending with images of the longtime collaborators and the message, “We love you, Dolly.”
Brad faced Dolly’s photo after finishing the performance, holding his hands over his heart in a touching tribute.
The She’s Everything singer recalled sending Dolly the track following his aunt’s death, wondering whether she would relate to its message.
She wasted no time agreeing to join him.
“I never thought it would be about her, but it is. It’s everything she believed. We will always love you, Dolly,” he said.

Brad also shared a sweet tribute to her earlier this week, reflecting on their duet following her passing, in his Instagram post.
“I never imagined this day would come. Getting to know Dolly was life changing, but not just for me. For everyone,” the singer wrote on Tuesday.
He added, “She seemed immortal. And in the spirit of what we sang together on this song, I believe she is. It won’t be the same down here without you Dolly. But what a legacy of goodness and art you leave for all of us. Goodbye hero. We will always love you.”
Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer.
