Will Smith has been spotted in Sydney filming his first movie in two years, marking the actor’s return to the big screen after a lengthy break from film projects.

The Bad Boys actor was seen filming Supermax in Sydney on August 26, wearing a metallic copper tracksuit paired with a white T-shirt and Nike Jordans.

In May, Smith’s production company, Westbrook, announced the project on Instagram, revealing collaborations with Amazon MGM Studios, Miramax and director David Gordon Green.

David Weil and David J. Rosen wrote the film and serve as executive producers alongside Smith and Adam Fishbach.

Supermax follows two FBI agents tasked with solving a murder at an ultra-secure prison in a story packed with twists and suspense.

Smith stars as the lead character, Rex, joined by AnnaSophia Robb and Jaafar Jackson.

Robb, 32, plays the FBI agent who partners with Smith’s character, Rex.

She confirmed her casting on Instagram July 21, calling herself “extremely grateful” and “extremely pumped” for the role.

Supermax is Smith’s first film since Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth installment of the franchise co-starring his longtime friend Martin Lawrence.

The comedy premiered in May 2024, earning $193.5 million at the domestic box office and finishing the year as North America’s 11th highest-grossing film.

Although Smith hasn’t filmed a movie since Bad Boys: Ride or Die, he returned to TV in January 2026 as host of National Geographic’s Pole to Pole with Will Smith.

On Pole to Pole, Smith took on challenges including skiing to the South Pole, catching an anaconda and diving beneath North Pole ice.

A month before Pole to Pole aired, Smith made his first and only Bel-Air appearance, briefly returning as “OG” in the series finale to advise Jabari Banks’ Will.

Supermax is set to stream exclusively on Prime Video worldwide.
