A mass shooting on the eastern side of Chicago's Washington Park claimed one life, leaving nine others injured.
According to Chicago police, officers were attempting to break a large crowd on the 5400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. when unknown individuals opened fire.
Police revealed that at least 10 individuals were hit by gunfire in the shooting, which occurred in the city's Washington Park neighbourhood.

One of the victims, a 35-year-old man, was shot multiple times, and was pronounced dead at the scene according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Six victims who were shot were rushed to area hospitals and were listed in good condition, according to police, including a 34-year-old man who was shot in the right shoulder.
A 39-year-old was hit in the right leg and arm, a 40-year-old woman was shot in the right shoulder and another woman (45) was shot in the left leg.
Moreover, a 26-year-old woman was shot in the chest, and a 42-year-old man was hit in the leg.
Police are working to obtain information on three other victims, including a 37-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, who were all taken to hospitals.
No Chicago police officers were hit by gunfire during the attack, according to authorities.
No suspects are in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.
As reported by CBS News, witness Terry Jones shared that he was at the picnic when he heard the gunshot.
"I was out here at the picnic, and I heard shooting, and I thought I was fireworks, and I seen everybody running, and falling and dropping," Jones said.
Authorities offering cash reward for crucial information
The Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the gunman.
"This senseless act of violence has devastated another Chicago community and left families dealing with unimaginable pain," Paul Rutherford, executive director of Cook County Crime Stoppers said in a statement.
He added, "One person lost their life, nine others were injured, and the individuals responsible must be held accountable."
"We are asking everyone in the community to do the right thing. If you know who was responsible, if you heard something, saw something, or have information that could help detectives, please come forward. You can remain completely anonymous. You don't have to put yourself or your family at risk. Let Crime Stoppers be the middleman and help law enforcement get the information they need to solve this case."
