Nicolas Cage’s Spider Noir has been scrapped after one season.
On Friday, September 4th, Prime Video has cancelled the best-selling series after just one season, bringing an unexpected end to the live-action Marvel series.
Before the show heads into the 2026 Emmy weekend with 11 nominations, the cancellation came, leaving the internet in chaos.
For the uninitiated, Nicolas starred as Ben Reilly, a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York who is forced to confront his past as the city’s mysterious superhero known as The Spider.
The eight-episode series marked the American actor and the Con Air actor’s first-ever regular role on a television series.
Set in 1930s New York, Spider-Noir starred Cage as Ben Reilly, a down-on-his-luck private investigator forced to confront his former life as the city’s only superhero, The Spider.
In addition to Nicolas Cage, the cast also included Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Abraham Popoola, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson.
The series premiered on MGM+ in May before becoming available on Prime Video.
However, the real reason Prime Video has yet to be disclosed is that the decision also brings an early end to what was expected to be part of a larger television expansion of Sony’s universe of Marvel characters.

This update came after the show scored 11 nominations for the 2026 Emmys, leading all Prime Video programs this year.
Its nominations span categories including cinematography, production design, visual effects, prosthetic makeup, music, sound and stunt work.
That makes Amazon’s decision to pull the plug even more notable.
The cancellation arrives right as Hollywood heads into Emmy weekend, with the main ceremony airing Monday, September 14th.
